In 2018, Ethan Song lost his life at a neighbor's house when an unsecured gun went off, killing him.
Seventy-three percent of children under the age of 10 living in homes with firearms reported knowing the location of their parents’ firearms. Thirty-six percent of those children reported handling their parents’ unsecured firearms.
The presence of unsecured firearms in the home increases the risk of unintentional and intentional shootings. Over 75 percent of firearms used in youth suicide attempts and unintentional firearm injuries were stored in the residence of the victim, a relative, or a friend.

We know that the #1 cause of death for children is gun violence. We know that this issue will not just disappear... we have to be intentional about the focus we give to make lasting and sustainable change. Thoughts and prayers are not enough! We know that unsecured guns pose an enormous threat to children on a daily basis. Not only can we ensure that guns are properly stored, but we can hold gun owners accountable when they fail to follow the law resulting in injury or death.
Together, we can let them know what is important to us to make our world a more peace-filled place for generations to come!
